January 16, 2023
It is Family Mediation Week (16 – 20 January 2023). Over the seven days, the Family Mediation Council and its member organisations will be promoting family mediation to members of the public and other professionals working with separating families. It is an opportunity for all of us involved in family mediation to raise awareness of this alternative form of dispute resolution and its benefits to separating families.
Denise Head and the Family Law team at Bates Wells & Braithwaite, Ipswich, are happy to support the goals of the campaign and its stated aim “to let more people know about the benefits of family mediation and encourage separating couples to think about family mediation as a way of helping them take control, make decisions together and build a positive future for their family.”
Denise concurs with this objective: “Mediation is a good choice for those who value an element of self-determination and who want to be able to sustain an amicable and working relationship in the future. As a trained mediator, I help participants to reach decisions by mediating for them, keeping a balance of perspectives and encouraging calm and balanced discussion.”
